How many domestic cats and dogs are there in the world and in Ukraine?

Mars Petcare, one of the world's largest pet food manufacturers, has recently released statistics on the number of the world's most popular pets.

According to it, humanity keeps 522 million dogs and 399 million cats. It turned out that dogs are more popular than cats almost everywhere. Globally, 33% of families have dogs and only 23% have cats.

In Ukraine, due to the war, it has been impossible to obtain accurate statistics for almost 10 years. However, there is evidence that more than 60% of the population of our country owns pets. And the percentage of cat lovers, unlike in the rest of the world, is significantly higher in Ukraine - 22% vs. 14%! At the same time, we have very sad data on stray animals, being in the reverse "TOP-10" in the world. But we believe that after the victory, everything will change qualitatively, and most stray animals will find homes!
