In appearance, the drug Selafort is a transparent solution from colourless to yellow or brown.

The preparation should be administered as a single spot application of a single dose (6 mg/kg selamectin) to the cat’s withers (the area at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades). This veterinary drug should be applied to the skin surface only. DO NOT administer orally or parenterally!

It is important to know the exact weight of the cat before application to avoid overdosing on the product, and to minimise the likely amount that the animal may lick off.

Selafort pipette dosage:
– for cats and dogs weighing ≤ 2.5 pipette 0.25 ml – 15 mg selamectin (active ingredient content 60 mg/ml), colour of pipette cap and box – pink;
– for cats weighing 2.6-7.5 kg pipette 0.75 ml – 45 mg selamectin (active substance content 60 mg/ml), colour of pipette cap and box – turquoise;
– for cats weighing 7.6-10 kg pipette 1 ml – 60 mg selamectin (active ingredient content 60 mg/ml), colour of pipette cap and box – warm grey;
– for cats weighing >10kg the appropriate pipette combination is used.

Dividing pipettes is forbidden!

INSTRUCTION

1. Take the pipette out of the packaging. Hold the pipette in an upright position, unscrew and remove the cap.

2. Unscrew the cap and place the other end of the cap on the pipette. Press and twist the cap to break the insulating gasket and then remove the cap from the pipette.

3. Part the coat at the base of the pet’s neck in front of the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze the pipette several times to completely squeeze the contents in one spot directly onto the skin. Avoid contact of the preparation with your fingers.

When you can bathe a cat?

It is recommended to bathe the pet before treatment with Selafort drops and not earlier than 24 hours after application of the preparation. Use only paraben-free shampoos for bathing, which do not wash off flea and tick repellents previously applied to the pet.

APPLICATION SCHEME

Treatment and prevention of siphonapterosis (flea infestation)

After application of the preparation adult fleas on the animal are killed. A single treatment prevents flea infestation for 4 weeks.

To prevent flea infestation, Selafort should be applied 1 dose of the product once a month during the flea season. Monthly treatment of pregnant and lactating animals prevents flea infestation in kittens up to 7 weeks of age.

In the treatment of allergic flea dermatitis, the drug is recommended to be used monthly.

Prevention of dirofilariosis in Dirofilaria immitis lesions

The necessity and duration of treatment should be determined by the veterinarian prescribing the drug and should be based on the local epizootological situation. For prophylaxis of dirofilariosis in case of Dirofilaria immitis infestation, the drug should be applied 1 month before expected activity of bloodsucking mosquitoes, during the whole period of activity and another month after the end of their activity. It is recommended to treat animals monthly on the same day. If the cat was treated with another drug that protects against microdirofilariae, Selafort spot-on 60 mg/ml can be applied 1 month after treatment with the previous drug.

Selafort is not effective against the adult stage of Dirofilaria immitis, but it reduces the number of circulating microfilariae and Dirofilaria larvae and can be administered even to infested animals.

Treatment of otodectosis (ear scabies)

For the treatment of otodectosis caused by O. cynotis, Selafort drops are applied once on the withers. DO NOT DRIP INTO THE EAR! During treatment it is recommended to clean the ear canal from exudate and scabs, and in cases of complication of otodectosis with bacterial otitis media, prescribe antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory drugs. If necessary, the course of treatment should be repeated after 1 month, if recommended by the veterinarian.

For deworming in toxocarosis caused by Toxocara cati, Toxocara canis, ankylostomosis caused by Ancylostoma tubaeformae, the drug is used for therapeutic purpose once, for prophylaxis – monthly.

For treatment of dogs with sarcoptosis caused by Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis, notoedrosis of cats caused by Notoedres cati, demodicosis of dogs caused by Demodex canis, Selafort is used twice with an interval of 1 month; in order to prevent possible infestation it is recommended to use the drug once a month.

PRECAUTIONS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS

1. Apply only to the surface of the skin. DO NOT administer orally or parenterally.
2. DO NOT administer to cats with hypersensitivity to the active ingredients of the drug or other components of the drops.
3. DO NOT use on sick and weakened pets.
4. DO NOT use on kittens under 6 weeks of age.
5. DO NOT use the drug when the animal’s coat is wet. Avoid frequent shampooing of the animal, as preservation of the drug efficacy in these cases has not been investigated.
6. To treat animals for Otodectes mite infestations, do not apply directly into the ear canal.
7. Wash hands after use and wash off immediately any substance in contact with skin with soap and water. In case of accidental eye contact, rinse eyes immediately with water, seek immediate medical attention and show the package insert sheet or label to a doctor.
8. Avoid direct contact with treated animals until the application site is dry. On the day of application of the drops, children should not handle treated animals and animals should not sleep with their owners, especially children.
9. Do not smoke, eat or drink while handling the product.

STORAGE

Store the drug in a closed package separately from food and feed, in a dry place protected from light and inaccessible for children and animals at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
