The Brazilian Terrier breed was officially recognized by the International Canine Federation only in 1995, but the formation of the breed began much earlier. The ancestors of the modern Brazilian Terrier were small dogs kept by sailors on their ships. These animals coped remarkably well with their duties, they had to destroy rats and mice on board. Soon, local dogs of small stature appeared on the territory of Brazil, very reminiscent of rat-catchers from ships. At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, many Brazilians went to study in different European countries, in which terriers were common at that time, which were used as fox hunting. Apparently, the Brazilians brought these dogs to their homeland, where they continued to interbreed with local dogs. Through this mixture of different bloodlines of small dogs, modern Brazilian terriers were formed.

The vital energy of Brazilian Terriers is in full swing. These dogs are unusually cheerful and cheerful, fast and agile, irrepressible and restless. Perfect for athletes and people who believe that "movement is life." Elderly people and passive people will not cope with them. In addition, Brazilian Terriers are very inquisitive and every walk is an opportunity for them to learn something new. More than one owner will not get bored with them. But this is not all their advantages. They are also excellent watchdogs, which are not very polite to strangers. They are wonderful defenders. They are very devoted to their owner and his family.
The most common diseases of the Brazilian Terrier include:
dysplasia of the hip and elbow joints;
The first two types of the disease are hereditary. Therefore, you need to carefully study the pedigree before acquiring a puppy. During the period of growing up, physical activity, jumping, and injuries are prohibited. Deafness usually occurs in older dogs. In young people, there may be a consequence of internal inflammation of the ear. Carefully monitor your pet's diet, because Brazilian terriers are prone to various allergies. Demodicosis is a very dangerous disease. A subcutaneous tick parasitizes on the animal's body, which causes bald patches to appear on the animal's body, dogs are worried about severe itching. Unfortunately, this disease is also hereditary, sick dogs should not be allowed to mate. For your pet to be healthy, be sure to strengthen his immunity, give him all kinds of vitamins and minerals.
Brazilian Terriers are very fast and agile dogs, they are primarily used for hunting and grazing, so they may be somewhat uncomfortable in urban environments. Of course, if you live in the city, you can get yourself a Brazilian terrier, but he will need to devote a lot of time to walking. These dogs are very athletic and need an active lifestyle. It is very easy to care for such terriers. Their short coat can be brushed once a week. You need to bathe rarely, so as not to wash off the protective layer of fat on the skin, otherwise the dogs become more vulnerable to various infections. It is also recommended to use only a special dog shampoo, otherwise various irritations and allergies may occur on the dog's body. Trim your dog's nails regularly, clean his ears, and wash his eyes with an anti-inflammatory chamomile decoction.
Brazilian Terriers can achieve a lot if they are properly trained and exercised regularly. They very quickly catch everything that is required of them. However, the trainer must be very patient, persistent and restrained. Since Terriers have a hard time sitting still, they always want to move and play, so getting them to complete a certain task can be quite difficult. But if you manage to find a common language with your pet (with the help of treats you will be 100% successful), then you will be able to surprise any passer-by with your friend's talents.
